Finance Director

The Ben Sigel For Congress campaign is seeking a finance director who will be responsible for developing and executing a fundraising plan that will enable the campaign to meet its financial goals. The ideal applicant will bring a strong attention to detail, sharp analytical skills and a positive attitude. This position is based in Greater Boston, MA.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop fundraising plan
  • Manage donor database (NGP)
  • Manage candidate call time
    • Creation of targeted donor solicit universes (high, mid, and low tier)
    • Organization / implementation of call time
    • Create call sheets
  • Manage fundraising events
    • Manage creation of invitations, as well as creation/ targeting of invitation universes
    • Create and manage internal tracking mechanisms to track progress/success
    • Provide ongoing updates to hosts (when desired)
    • Oversee/review day of event needs (catering, valet, staffing, supplies, etc.)
  • Manage solicitation programs outside of call time
    • Hard Mail, Email & Social Platforms – Will build and grow campaign e-mail list(s)
  • Manage finance communications; create/refine language for all finance communications

Qualifications:

  • Prior campaign fundraising experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, ActBlue, and NGP
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Deputy Campaign Manager

The Ben Sigel For Congress campaign is seeking a deputy campaign manager who will be responsible for assisting the campaign manager in leading the campaign team, developing the campaign strategy and meeting campaign goals. The ideal applicant will bring a strong attention to detail, sharp analytical skills and a positive attitude. This position is based in Greater Boston, MA. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • ASSISTING CAMPAIGN MANAGER/Consultants
    • Assist in management of campaign staff 
    • Assist in creation and management of staff goals 
  • COMMUNICATIONS
  • Assist in development of the communications plan
  • Draft social media posts
  • Review emails and press advisories
  • FINANCE DATA & REPORTING
  • Oversee and collaborate with compliance firm
  • Manage all outgoing disbursements (vendor payments, invoices, payroll, etc.)
  • Manage internal books – to manage/review cash flow
  • Provide weekly updates to include raised to date, quarterly raised (to goal), available in bank account, and actually available (based on cash flow)
  • Manage required reporting with compliance firm
  • SCHEDULING
    • Manage communications, research opportunities and review campaign schedule
    • Make determinations/recommendations to candidate on what to attend
    • Coordinate staffing for each event based on finalized weekly schedule
    • Staff events as needed, and represent campaign for outreach
  • INTERNS / VOLUNTEERS
  • Oversee intern and volunteer recruitment efforts
  • Manage volunteer communications / posting through e-mail universe on a consistent
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
    • This role will evolve throughout the campaign and the person hired must be able to multi-task and be flexible.

Campaign Fellow

The Ben Sigel For Congress campaign is seeking hard-working, self-motivated individuals to join the campaign as a campaign fellows for the Spring/Summer of 2020. Candidates should be current students or recent graduates who are looking to gain political experience. Campaign Fellows will learn how to execute a professional campaign plan, fundraising program, communications strategy, and engage various aspects of the campaign on team projects.

The Campaign Fellow will assist the campaign team in implementing all aspects of the campaign strategy:

  • Field Operations
  • Fundraising, Donor Research
  • Plan, develop and implement events
  • Conduct press and voter outreach
  • Assist in social media strategy
  • Campaign Research

Application Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills required
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word) required
  • Interest in politics, campaigns, and willingness to learn
  • Access to laptop and reliable transportation

This Fellowship will introduce participants to all aspects of a modern Congressional campaign. In the process, Fellows will build quintessential fundraising, database, writing, and communication skills useful in a variety of full-time positions in politics and beyond. This Fellowship is unpaid, but course credit can be arranged.
